If you are looking to meet a real person through online Christian dating and are serious about a committed relationship then this article is important for you to read.
There are many damaged souls out there who are looking for love and have found solace and comfort in serial online dating - they subscribe to one or more sites and make contact with a myriad people, getting to know them right up to an intimate level but usually without ever even meeting them face-to-face.
If you want to avoid that type of person and find someone like minded, untainted by bad online dating experiences, here are a few tips:

I have just been reading some introductory emails on the dating site that I belong to, and something smacked me in the face...here was a 35 year old's introductory heading: "LOL I hope you don't..." and the rest doesn't really matter, but what is LOL???
Okay, I know, it stands for laugh out loud. WHAT? I mean, WHAT?
Simply this doesn't require any grey matter use to figure out just from the guy's introduction that he spends way too much time dating online and not living in the real world. This is not even a clue to his behavior but rather a blatant clanging warning bell that he spends way too much time online, has probably been 'doing' online dating for years and is not looking for any kind of serious commitment, or doesn't even know how to handle a real relationship.
If somebody is using lingo that you feel belongs to a younger generation, yet they're of a mature age, it's a sure sign that they are not looking for anything more than casual online contact.
Of course (my disclaimer) there are exceptions to every rule, but you need to be wary of the signs - I know people who have dated online for years and years and years and prefer it to a real relationship, even though they won't ever admit it.
Another thing to look out for, especially if you're in your 30's and upwards, is do they live anywhere near you? If they live the other side of the country or even the world, think twice about letting your heart get involved with that person - the likelihood of being able to build a solid foundation from which to build a relationship is very slim. We all know that long distance relationships are difficult at the best of times, and they are even more so if you have no basis from which to grow.
Equally, the reality is that if you do fall in love and want to be with each other, one of you has to move or even emigrate, which isn't always even possible because of laws restricting such movement.
So, as romantic as the idea might be, it is very important to keep a check on reality and to not lose sight of your goals and life plans.
Again there are exceptions, and if you are a Christian and are using an online Christian dating site, of course you need to be open to God's plan in your life, but make sure that's what it is, and that your life doesn't become unhinged by choosing the wrong person.
So, ask lots of questions about the other person's online dating experience, probe into what they want out of a relationship, take your time to get to know them to ensure that you are comfortable with what you know about them to ensure that you're going to avoid online serial daters.
